How To Keep It Working Longer

Water Heaters

Water enter a hot-water heater has mineral
deposits that settle in the bottom of the
tank. You can increase the life time span
by draining the sedliment from the bottom
every other month.

However, unless you have been doing this
to start with on your newer water heater.
Don't began now-
If it's an older model the sediment is already
their and has been for a time.

If it's more then 5 years old, there already is
a buildup of sediment that may clog the drain
and cause it to leak. The drain value can be replaced
(you can find these parts at your local hardware store)

* replacement spigots
The tank must be Drained of it's water first.

Newer units can be safely drained since their is
no sediment build up yet.

Connect a garden hose to the drain spigot and lead
it to a floor drain. You can drain the tank into a sink,
but all the water will not run out because the hose
will be held higher than the bottom of the tank.

(Since you only have to drain the water and the bottom
of the tank to flush out the sediment, that's all right.
